How are you?
I'm doing well, thank you.
Right to see you here.
Thank you.
Why don't you fill our audience a little bit on your mission and your work before we get to today's show topics.
Awesome, okay, so my mission is to really spread the word about what health really is, and do you feel about natural health care, understanding, supplement, sourcing, food, lifestyle, all those types of terms that we use, as well as finding the root cause to people's health ailments, that's what I do, is find out what's causing the IBS, the crowns, or any diagnosed disease, really.
So that's my mission. Right, I love that this... Well, today we were talking about liver hormones and weight loss, and so Kristin, no matter what diet we do or how much exercise... I should say how much I do actually say I'm gonna make it about me.
Yeah, you know what? That's the best. You know, it just happens. Yesterday, I did a video on Instagram and I'm like, You know, I'm always making up the topics and I'm always thinking, Oh, maybe this is what people wanna hear, but yesterday I did a video saying, could you tell me what your problem... Right, it's better that way. So I got so much response, this is great that we're making it about you...
'cause people can relate.
Right, sure. I am over 50, and so I know that a lot of times they'll say, Oh yes, okay. You're over that mark. But again, harder to lose weight when I'm over the age, but then again, exercising, making it fun, making it different, and then just the stubbornness of it all, so we using with...
Where do I go? Where do I start?
Okay, well, the first thing of a few questions. Are you in menopause?
Now, now you're past it. Okay, your post manifests. Awesome. You at... In hot flashes, night sweats.
Not that lucky. Good. So no matter how much you work out or you trim your foods or take out food or add foods, the weight won't budge. Right.
Okay.
So I was like, one like this arise.
That means no.
Okay, very good. Alright, so one of the most important things that I've found for 14 years, I've been seeing this is a liver, thyroid, adrenals, pancreas and hypothalamus, I know that's a lot, but it's called the HP at Access. That's what it's called. And so what's really important is to support that HP at access those are your hormone-producing glands as well as your liver, that's why it is so important, whether it's coming into my office to have a muscle testing, nutritional evaluation, or somebody near you to do it that does what I do, because they'll be able to pinpoint exactly which organs are not functioning optimal level, and so without Pat access, is that a blood test? Is it a year and is like What is... That's a good... Thank you so much that I forgot people can't read in my mind... That's a good question. So hah for hypothalamus, for pituitary, A for adrenal ant for thyroid. This is your major hormonal glance, alright, and this is what balances you out, so you can do a couple of things, you can do a saliva hormone desk. And that would be a great thing. I sometimes run those when I've got stubborn cases, you can do it through a blood test, and if you're gonna do it through a blood test, there are certain tests that you'll wanna run... Should I go through those?
Okay, yeah.
Okay, you're gonna wanna run all of your third, so that's gonna include a TSH-T3 free... Make sure it says free, T4 free. I would also include a TPO, which will check for any antibodies that can be out of control with the thyroid, and I would also include or pretty much... That's pretty good. I also include SH, BG, and that stands for sex hormone binding globulin, that is a parking lot in the body where the hormones Park really... Oftentimes, yep, and I get what's happening is, is in your body is you probably... You may be more estrogen dominant, and it is very common in this... Actually, this comes out in a blood test, you can see this one come out of blood test... Yes, so live a hormone is your best way to check your hormones, but these tests on the blood test are also sufficient, but the saliva is just one step better.
Okay, so expand on this, this is I think the first time I've ever heard anybody talk about any of these things, so...
I love it.
So, okay, good. The TSH is your thyroid stimulating hormone, that's one piece of the thyroid, your T3-free T4-free are also for the thyroid and your TPO is also for the thyroid.
Now, the SPG, I want to go back to that because this is a test that is under-used...
I've never heard of it.
I know exactly, it's under-used and a lot of females, whether younger in their 20s or into their 60s, my demographic is from infant to 70s, so in my office that's... Those are the ages I see. So a lot of them will take it to their OB-GYN and they're not running these tests, so... Yeah, so that's why we say before you go to the doctor, let me know and I'll give you my blood sheet with all the tests I want you to run on it, so they can add it.
So SHP is one of them, and you called it a parking lot or... Yes, so it's a parking lot for your hormones, your testosterone, your estrogen, your progesterone, they need to park in there, so imagine a parking lot, literally a parking lot empty, and then all these Ford white trucks come in and they fill it, and then you've got some yellow vest, these are the different types of hormones, I'm trying to make an Anatole to visualize it, and the VS have nowhere to park, there's white filling all of it, because typically estrogen is the pig of the parking lot, that's why women have a lot... Usually have a hard time losing weight, now, here's the other piece to it, is the liver has to properly detox that excess estrogen, so a little tip for helping the liver detox... Excess estrogen is cruciform vegetables, so brussel sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower. Those are a great start.
I use those in supplementation along with having the client eat it as well, it's not the only... Like I said, everyone is different. So in muscle testing, it's a test that's unique to your body's needs, so muscle testing. So yeah, so it's nutrition response testing. Okay, and it's a form of muscle testing, which comes from applied kinesiology, and what I do is basically look for weak organs in the body, and I'm looking at the hormone glance, so we're on the HPA access, this is how I test it alongside any labs. So we're looking at the hypothalamus here in the brain, I'm just right here on the brain, you're in the thyroid, in the throat, the adrenals right on the back, they sit on top of the kidneys, and then of course, for men, prostate or for women ovaries, and that is considered the muscle testing... That is yep. So what we're doing is we're interrupting blood flow, basically you're is... It kinda can be hard to explain over the radio, it's easier to show you as they stretch, so we can try to test on you, but what happens is, is you hold your arm out and you hold it straight, we're getting on the same page, you're pressing up on the arm, I'm pressing down right and then the other hand, I'm just interrupting blood flow into the thyroid, I'm just putting a little pressure on, we're gonna see if there's a weakness in the arm.
The idea is that it's like hypothermia, you jump into a freezing called Lake, all the blood and energy supply leaves these extremities, your hands, your fingers or toes, your feet, and goes to the vital core organs to save your life basically because you don't need your arms to live, right, but you need heart and your liver and everything else, so that's the idea with muscle testing, so you hold your arm out and then I'm stressing the third... Just by gently applying pressure. It interrupts blood flow, and we'll see if there's a weakness... Wow, so that's one way to do it. That's interesting, and you would think that like most women, when they go to their bed in or that they should be going through all of these tests, have no, I've never been through any of these Tesseract.
And how old are you? You said for 50 and over 50 to over 35 over.
Tell you about... Thank you, I love you. Are you... Do you look very good, but... Yes, no, I'm telling you, the typical tests that are run is usually a complete blood panel or a complete wellness panel, which is your white blood cells, red blood cells, your liver enzymes, which are great, you wanna see those, but a TSH is a typical hormone... I'm putting my fingers up for quoted hormone, they're like, Well, we'll check your Tari, and of course, their reference range for TSH is point... I think it's 04 to 50. it's exactly. Okay, you guys can't see her face, but it's like...
Yeah, so what should it be? Exactly, a great question. So any time your doctor runs a test, ask them to add these tests on it, there's a couple more I'm gonna give you as well, but... I don't wanna stray too far.
So the TSH, you want it to be between a one and a two, it doesn't mean that because it's between a one and a two, that everything is hunky-dory, because you need to dig for more information, that's one piece of the thyroid, it's not the whole piece, so the rest of the pieces are your T3 Free, Your T4, free your TPO, you can also do a reverse T3, and all these are just different pieces of the thyroid, just to see a full picture, and this should... If I were to go to my OB-GYN or he would be able to run these tests, they would be able to know if she is open to it, and we'll let you then... Yes, absolutely. Sometimes the tests, sometimes sometimes doctors are funny, I have clients that... Their doctors are like, No, absolutely not, I'm not gonna run that.
So if that happens, my advice is you can pay cash, you can go online and find, I think life extensions, you can pay cash for your own blood tests and walk into a quest or a LabCorp or whatever they're contracted with, whoever they're contracted with, and when you get all of these. But if you're Dr. Wilde. Yeah.
Okay, that's awesome.
What happens when you get the results back? What do all these tests? Tell me... So the test will tell you how well your thyroid is functioning, it will tell you... Well, depending on the test, the other one you would wanna do as a DH-East, this is part of your adrenals, renal function, hormone function, so a lot of symptoms, the reason I would even run these tests in the first place is hair loss, dry skin, weight problems, mood and fluctuations. Dizziness, light-headed-ness, not sleeping. Another one I would add to that is a hemoglobin A1C, so H-M-G A1C, so we can see your insulin marker and your blood sugars, because your insulin is what regulates all your hormones in the first place, so there's a whole story to all of this, because but it has to be all run together, and that is really make up, as you say, those parking lot of the hormones, but that all goes together.
Exactly, as I'm sitting here frustrated going, Why isn't this working if I'm exercising or if I'm not eating the full portions, but I've... Exactly, you're like, I'm cutting calories or I'm eating the... I'm on the panel the keto or what I... Absolutely, it can be very frustrating. So that's what I do, is I find the root cause to what's going on now, many times, how often are you working out?
And that varies, but I try to keep a persistent three days a week, make great. Sometimes we're over doing it so that it's not like I'm doing CrossFit or something like that, but... Go ahead, go, go. Good, actually with... I find also with a lot of people that have a hard time losing weight is that they're doing too much CrossFit, so it ends up working not in their favor, it becomes too inflammatory for their body as... Okay, once we get that in on everyone... Once we get the information back, then now what do I do with information? When I say, Okay, these are all the numbers.
And so we evaluate the numbers and where they're at, and we look at that, and then we also look at your muscle testing, so my nutritional exam findings and we're comparing it and looking at... Okay, so let's just... I guess we'll do examples, so let's say an example, we've got a hemoglobin A1c that is on the higher side, we've got a TSH is on a higher side, well, that would tell us that we've got a low functioning thyroid, and we also have blood sugars that are most likely out of control, so we start to work on the diet, we start adding in good fats to really help to re-sensitize those receptors and balance at blood sugar, and we also add in mineral-rich foods, iodine foods for your thyroid as well as whole food supplementation, so the supplement part is where I create a specialized supplement program based for your body's needs, so when we're doing the nutritional exam and we're finding you've got a week thyroid, we've got a weak pancreas, right, because those are the tests that we just ran and we're wanting to confirm and make sure that's what we're finding, then we test you for the solution, what is gonna help her balance her blood sugars, balance the hormones. Balance the thyroid.
Wow.
Okay, everything is personalized. Yes, yes, yes. I hope I'm making sense 'cause it can get big or... No, it does make sense, and I think that when you say... In the beginning, when I was introducing you, it says you've designed a specialized nutrition program... Yes, but it really is personalized and specialized because of the tests that you run, so that is why... And it is personalized to each person... Exactly, exactly. So to diabetics can walk in my office and they're both gonna leave with different programs no matter what, so the supplements, and that can run the gamut too, so liver function, hormones, just like you talked about, and then Pancras, Can there ever be too much... I don't know, this can be a huge conversation right now that... So first, supplements and for minerals, I know we're in this space now, so this is what you do, so that... Can you Penryn you overdo it? Like what? You don't know if you saw what I take in a thinly malleable look like a shelf at mother's market probably, right?
I do, but it's worth it.
And that's part of the balance. So again, knowing what learning the balance in my diet, in the people's diet that you're working with your clients and everything... Exactly, exactly. Yeah, of course. You can overdo it. I mean, there are a lot of supplements over the counter like Kirkland and nature, those are the two word supplements on the shelf in one of the two worst, they have corn oil, they have soy bean oil in them, they are not good whole food sources that your body can even absorb... Already mentioned Sybil there.
I can't confirm that they're synthetic, but the types of components to them are not good, healthy, wholesome supplements. That's it.
So I have a lot of people that will bring those in and right away, I'm like, throw these away, don't even use them, and it's like a bias that you have to use the brand I use, which a standard process... I've used him for 15 years. I love them, I'm committed to them, their whole food supplements, but that's what they are, the organically ENTS that are grown in a farm made into a pill, and that's not when Kirkland and nature made so you can do more harm than good with some products, and that's... When I talk about sourcing, you wanna make sure that they're good sources... Yeah, and you know what the background is there, so once you get the diet and that information that the tests run and everything, and after you're on your way, maybe a month or two months, go by three months.
Do you get re-tested? You do re-testing?
Oh yeah, absolutely. While in my program, how it works is I'm seeing you weekly in the very beginning, so we're doing the muscle testing weekly, and we're looking over your food log and we're going over your timing of your eating, because if your blood sugar showed up, your hemoglobin A1c, we just spoke about... Showed up a little bit higher, we need to make sure for you that we're eating a little more often, so we're definitely working on your time of reading what you're eating, giving you ideas, recipes, list, so you know extras, you know exactly what to do, ordinate weekly, and then the muscle testing weekly, and the reason we do that weekly for a little while is So I can stay ahead of the game, because right now we're trying to turn back 220 years of some harm and damage that's been done... Right, right, right.
I mean, not that you're the harmful to your body, but it's just 20 years of living and life happens, Alcohol happens being a... Right, exactly.
Party time, a turn, the... Butera yeah, exactly. So we are just always making sure how's your thyroid functioning, is it getting better, is there any yeast, parasites, viruses, what is causing these tests to show... How would I say What's causing these numbers to show elevated or low... What's the root cause? All of this. So it could be foods, your eating could be bugs, parasites, pathogens, bacteria, viruses, yeast, bugs. That's what I call my god. And actually, this will lead me to my next question, but we have to take a quick break really fast at say right where you are. 'cause you don't go anywhere. We'll be right back.

And now back to our interview with holistic nutrition as Christy Econ, and we're talking about liver hormones, weight loss, and all of these tests that we were just putting the... Putting me through really, we're setting you up for success.
We talked about that weekly muscle testing, and where does it come into play now to check back in with the blood test and then wrapping it all up and find it... What is this process again? Okay, so we're doing the... In my program, we begin muscle testing weekly, right in every single visit, we're doing muscle testing, following up on the organs that we found that are weak, neutral or nutritionally stressed, as I say it, and we're following up on the supplements we have, you want... Checking your doses, if we need to add a bottle to Lena bottle or if we need to keep your program the same, and then we're also gonna be following up with your blood test, we're gonna redo this blood test most likely in about six months.
Okay, you wanna give the body time, so some people, if there is diabetes, type 1, type 2, it's always a good idea to do every three to four months, so we can get a better picture, if there is diabetes, you can always get a glucometer. I always recommend that CVS, Walgreens, any local pharmacy-type store, I think Target even has one, is a little finger prick. I often have people do that, so we can look at their blood sugars first thing in the morning, so there's all kinds of ways, but blood test back to the doctor, typically every about five... Six months.
Okay, yeah, just so we can see.
I think once a year is not enough. But the blood doesn't change that quickly either... That's why I use muscle testing.
Okay, and so we'll be able to get back on track.
Tattoo, when we left off, you were talking about also checking to see if there are bugs parasites... This is an interesting question, but I'm gonna ask you anyway, what does this have anything to do with the bugs? What does it mean when... Poop smells follow there. I said it.
She got it out. Ladies and gentlemen, yeah. What does that mean?
Well, first of all, bugs, bugs, we have good bugs and we've got bad bugs in our body, we are like one big bug ourself, one big microbiome, and I know... And it's a matter of when the bad bugs over grow the good... So the whole microbiome is off, Weave Got bugs behaving badly, essentially. I love it. They're hiding in the folds, the tissues, the layers, their... Yes. Have you ever heard of the term Candida? Yeah, that's an overgrowth of bad East.
So oftentimes, when we're eating heavy starches, junk food, fast food, sugar, oh my gosh, sugar, milk, without being a whole milk or even Row milk is the best. And mother's market happens to be one of the stores in rage County that sells Rommel.
But yeah, we're eating, we're not eating good foods, and those foods feed the baddest in our body, and so in turn, our symptoms are... Can't lose weight. Going through bad menopause symptoms, hot flashes, night sweats, acne hair, falling out, moods... I'm trying to think of some other things.
Everything bad, Utah, it just starts crumbly and going down, and that's when you hear that term, people say, Geez, after 40, I feel... I'm starting to feel old, I feel like things are starting to break.
Right, I'll hear that sometimes, but... Okay, so it's also just, it's a cleansing process that really it is, and it's not that simple, where it's like you go to your local juice place and you're drinking all this juice for days. It's not like that, but it's important to know what's going on with your body because just to go and get a parasite cleanse or a yeast cleansed, it may not target all the layers that the east is hiding or the parasites are hiding.
So it's really important. There's so many components, the first line of defense in your body against these pathogens or bugs is your stomach acid, and most people are lack of stomach acid, so they in turn will have bloating farting or...
I ask people like the word Gas, I like the word for... Right, right.
And valuing Bering, acid reflux, heartburn, sometimes there's just a lot of inflammation, a telltale signs as a hangout.
Exactly, exactly.
So let's talk about eczema or psoriasis?
Yeah. Oh, either is fine.
Okay.
Both swim in the same pool.
A-right, which sounds where the bugs are hanging out to maybe... Exactly. So you need to go out and start practicing... Yeah, right, that's exactly... And again, it's with these tests to, we can figure this out and pull away those layers and... Yes, now, the blood test doesn't exactly show you would have to run ten amounts of... You'd have to really dig... A blood test is not the best way to search for yeast, parasites, viruses, bacteria, now, if they do find those in your blood, then you're definitely sick, like there is... This body is ill. And so another way that many practitioners, emetic Al doctors will do is they'll do a stool sample, I'll tell you, I find many clients who deal with ease and they're still not feeling well, and all their tests, their blood tests, their stool tests, their breath tests, they're all so negative, right?
Their blood test, everything shows you're fine next, but they're still ill and they're not feeling well, and they're quality of life, they can function as well for quality of life is very low.
So it's so important to know what tests to do, and that's where the muscle testing comes in to be able to see, is there any type of pathogen hiding that the blood stool or breath test did not pick up, because often when they're looking for parasites in the stool tests, they're only sampling maybe like in the land that's being dramatic, but honestly, there's a lot to look for, so going back to with the EMA or the psoriasis, how does that show up with... Why Won't that go away if we... If I have a problem with psoriasis or eczema, how do we come out that...
Okay, great question. So eczema and psoriasis, basically, your skin cells replicate faster than normal skin cells do, I believe normal skin skills, skin cells renew themselves about once a month, I'm pretty sure about that, and Tristan EMA about once a week or so, but the point is... Or the reason that the EMR is starts happening is because of a poor gut function and liver and gall bladder function... A gall bladder is absolutely under-locked that call bladder, that pretty little person to there that holds that bilan, digest your facts and lubricate your intestines for a good, healthy bowel movement gets sluggish, it gets thick and backed up with bile and often stones. So the bill becomes role, they can sluggish, so now it can't move and digest things, and the skin is our biggest eliminating organ, and so the skin will start erupting the eczema, the dry skin. And that's how it shows up. That's how it shows up. And then if you don't have a good liver function that properly detox is good kidney function properly detox is... Takes out the trash and the waste, your skin is gonna pop up on the skin.
Wow, so if something's happening on the surface, it's a good mirror for what's happening on the inside, so it must be really bad at...
Yeah, probably.
You treatment, my gosh.
Okay, so now let's talk about hair and thickness or if it's dry or if it's a... Starting to fall out.
Talk to me about the thinning out of hair Waterman, this happens with a lot of females and males. It means low thyroid function, low adrenal function, basically that HP at Access I spoke about earlier, it's low function of that... Okay, right, because the thyroid does not work alone, that is the misconception is when you go to the doctor, deduces, you have a third problem, but it's not just a thyroid problem, it's a gut problem, it's a deficiency problem, and it's a hypothalamus pituitary and adrenal problem, and they don't... The pancreas isn't added in the hat, but I definitely... It's in there, it's a blood sugar problem because all these case, like the blood sugars, if you are constantly in stress mode with your food reading too much sugar to which carbohydrates you are spiking insulin, and if you're spiking insulin on the regular, it's gonna eventually your receptors desensitized and it's gonna store as fat, and that's why often it can become hard to lose weight, but not only will it stores fat, it ties up and binds the thyroid hormones, and so it just becomes inflammation, so you gotta really work on cleaning out the downstairs, so the upstairs can start feeling better and clean house, it's so amazing part of the body... Right, right.
But it is amazing that everything that shows up on the outside really is... Is a result of what's going on on the inside.
Totally. It's your best memory, and so sometimes it takes a while for it to show up and in different areas, but that means... It must be really bad.
Totally. I have some clients that are asymptomatic, meaning they'll come in and they're like, Oh, I only deal with a little bit of headaches, and when I go through their nutritional exam, I'm like, Oh my gosh, I can't believe that you don't have all these other symptoms because I just found a mass of stuff going on, so not... And some people just tolerate and deal with these symptoms for years and don't realize they think it's part of age, they think it's... They don't really... They mostly chalk it up to age, wow, I'm sure you've seen some amazing results, how... Absolutely, yeah, absolutely. When you stay on program, you follow through on all my recommendations and stay with the program long enough so we can achieve all maximum correction of all the underlying causes to your problems.
Absolutely.
So what is that program?
So I join it, I get into, I buy into it, I'm on the... And guess if I sold you yet, I'm like, Okay, the exercise vitamin and all that, how long will that take for me to start to see those results with also the supplements and the minerals along with a healthy diet lifestyle.
Awesome, great question. Everyone is different, it is not an easy straightforward answer, but I always tell everybody, and that first week, you'll probably start feeling better, you might even notice you'll do a pound or two, that usually happens 'cause the body is so excited that it get what it needed, and then your body might plateau a little bit because now we're starting to open Pandora's box or lifting layers in the body, because you're like an onion, so we're lifting this union layers that we have not lifted in maybe ever or in a long time. So really, I always say Hold on to them hats and glasses for six months.
Yeah, but along the way, you start feeling that or if... Some cases that are like, Oh my gosh. After a month, I'm like, Wow, I didn't know I could feel this good. Wow.
It, I always say give it six months to a year to really be like, Wow, I haven't felt this good since I was 20, yeah, depending on the severity of the case. Sometimes they're tougher.
I think, again, I like the fact that you are really looking into the blood test and then all of the testing that goes alongside with that, because I think it's just important, and that's the personalization that you do with it.
Absolutely.
Can I mention one more time?
Okay, yeah, yeah.
So there is the muscle testing, there is blood tests, there are some other blood tests, of course I run, those are good hormone ones for you and what we're talking about, the other test I do in my office is called brain span, brain span is a fantastic test it is actually developed by a medical doctor, Dr. Dan, he is very nice, very helpful. Great company. The test is an in-office test, so that's part of your initial consultation where we do a little prick of the finger, a little drop a blood, and it test the inflame inflammation in your body at a cellular level. So it shows Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio, right? 'cause we don't want you to be all the way into omega-6 with omega-6 harmful oils like soybean oil, corn oil, some harmful vegetable oils like that, we want you to have a nice balance 'cause you need your inflammation down, so we can see where your inflammation is out of the entire body at a cellular level, it also shows the cardio metabolic part of the body, so we're looking at your cardiovascular system, if you're predisposed to heart disease, heart attack, blood sugars, diabetes, so we're really seeing where the bodies and inflammatory responses at for those... And we're also seeing... So I'm talking like a mile, a mood, we also see the sensitivity of your Lepton, now you have two hormones that your body produces, one is Garland, like it's the hunger hormone, the other one is left in hormone, this is the full hormone, but it also is the one that helps to break down the fat cells in the body, so we wanna make sure that your inflammation is decreasing, you're able to... And what you do is you click on that link and you'll wanna use an iPad or a phone, and basically you're... It's kind of like a game that you're following what they're asking you and it takes about 20 minutes, and it shows your processing speed, it shows your flexibility, so that means how well you adapt to new information coming at you, and it also shows your sustained attention and your focus. So it's pretty cool.
