But first up, we're extremely pleased to welcome certified nutritional consultant, Renee many, she is a holistic health specialist and the owner of wellness within nutritional consulting, where she's helped patients realize their health and nutritional goals for several years, and she's with us today to discuss anti-oxidants and we welcome her to the mother's market radio show. Rene, how are you?
I'm good. Thanks for having me again. Absolutely.
Before we get to today's topic, please fill the audience in a little bit about your mission and your work, basically, my goal is just to help people balance their systems, to use an alternative approach to traditional medicine, using nutraceuticals vitamins variables to make their body as optimally as well, as it can be. Good, I like that sound. Today we're talking about anti-oxidants, so it goes right along into your mission, we're so grateful to get an expert opinion. So Rene, let's start by asking a simple question, What are anti-accident? Well, there are some things in the body called free radicals, and what perdita do is they scale around through the body to cause damage, and the oxidants play catcher and go through the system trying to find those three radicals and make them not cause damage to the cells. And anti-oxidants are in all kinds of things and simple to get, but... Good stuff.
Okay, so there's this... Like if it's called an orc value, what does that mean?
Or AC is actually an acronym for Oxygen, Radical Absorbance Capacity, the higher the RAC Value, the higher the content of antioxidants, so super fruits like SI from Brazil, one from the Pacific Islands, make and mangoes, all of those super fruits have high or act values. They're considered the super fruits, that's why they call them super fruit, but there are plenty of familiar super fruits out there that we can eat every day here in the United States, blueberries raspberries, grapes, conquer grapes, all of those fall into that category of super fruits and have high or act value. And so those are the good... Those are good, basically, I guess, a way to measure under accidents in a particular food or product... Yeah, it's just a way to measure, it's just a measurement of how much antioxidant is in any particular food, all foods, especially fruits and vegetables, have an Ora value, and the better they are for you, or the better antioxidant amount in it, the higher the rack... That's good. On food, tie and antioxidants help prevent cancer. We keep hearing that. Is that true? Well, I think some schools have thought, they actually believe that that's true, anti-oxidants neutralizes the free radicals when I spoke about earlier, which damage healthy cells, it causes premature aging, cell damage and it can possibility to cancer, you have bad cells and sales that aren't functioning right. And then cancer is definitely gonna try to get to those calls, it sounds like a wonder drug there as the anti-aging and cancer... It helps prevent cancer. We all want in on that, clinical studies have also shown that antioxidants are helpful in the fight against cancer, cell domination. Can you talk a little bit about that?
Well, the idea is that if we can keep the cell damage from free radicals down, it's likely that healthy cells will regenerate properly, 'cause you're always... Your sales are constantly regenerating, your body is in a constant state of regeneration, that's why your skin left off, that's why you're going your bone all the time, your hair is always growing, those are cells that are regenerating constantly, and if we cannot let the Ferrari ALS damage those cells, when the new calls, the baby calls are becoming Omar, then you have a greater chance of not getting cancer and degenerative disease, what about... Well, there's lots of different things, like I said, the leafy vegetables, collard greens, Kelapa, papaya, abroad being great fruit, all those things are really high or a value... High in good stuff, vitamin C, You can get stuff, even in beef and poultry and fish, You find vitamin C not in such high quantities like you'd find in an orange, but still... And those are all things that you can eat as Rolla cherry like You... Vitamin C, those are all good things for you, we germ, sattler, mangoes, nuts, broccoli, all the vegetables, fruits and nuts that you hear about all the time on the media, those are the best things for you, and you don't just have to get them from eating those foods there are super powders out there that are good for you, green powders, red powder, green and red powders you can get at the Health hood store, those if you don't like Do your vegetables or you don't have time, teacher vegetables, they say that the amount of vegetables we should be eating as somewhere between conservatively five and six servings a day, but some people are estimating like 12 to 15 servings a day, and personally, I want think I 12 to 15 servings of anything a day, not quite sure how I can get that many vegetables in unless you may be very vegan and vegetarian, and so there are other ways to get it, take the supplements, and that's just gonna ask you, what about kids... So how do you get... Is it, first of all, safe for kids to take supplements or put that in a powder, or how can you... Definitely, they make specific amazing greens, has a product that's actually green, it's a green formula, you put it in milk or almond milk or whatever type of beverage they drink, you shake it up and it tastes like chocolate milk, so it's easy... I give it to my kids, it's an easy way for them to get a good amount of fruits and vegetables in a couple of servings, and that little 8-ounce cup, they're happy because they don't think they've duped him into having broccoli and you're happy because you know they're getting a good amount of... That is true. That's good. And also it serves for those antioxidants as well... Yeah, antioxidants.
And do you mention... You mentioned a little bit about nuts, do those have the net have antioxidant and they do because they're high in vitamin E. so like I said, we germ Safford. And now back to our interview with certified nutritional consultant, Renee Vance, we're discussing anti-oxidants and right now, let's find out the benefits of antioxidants. What are the big players in the inter-accident supplement world as well, and I think the top of the top... I think I mentioned earlier is the AC in selenium. Carlson makes a product called the AES, which is a C and selenium. That's a great product because you take you a couple of pills a day and you've got a good dose antioxidants, easy to take, but those are the big vitamin players in... Selenium helps to prevent cancer. Vitamin E is good for cancer, lung health eyes, skin, vitamin A is a great, Vitamin A and C are great for immune building, and you need that good amount of those fat-soluble vitamin A, vitamin E in the body together, they really make a good mesh of antioxidant support, and a lot of times you can find those just in your multi-vitamin, you have to buy something separate, a lot of times, if you get a good food-based multi... It's in there. And it's an easy way to get that in.
I think some of the other things that are out there, aside, which is short for superoxide distaste, it's actually in an enzyme that helps the body to take out bad toxins, give the free radicals, obviously, and all the waste product that they create when the toxins from all the environmental things that go into the body, you can take those type of things, the glutathione, peroxidase and catalase, these are all enzymes that are great for scaling free radicals, so unlike herbal fruits and vegetables, vitamin anti-oxidants, these are like enzyme antioxidants as we age our enzyme production goes down. So if we don't have a really good source of enzymes in the body, a lot of times the Franca can go crazy, break out into the blood stream and cause inflammation and stuff like that, if you can get those enzymes back in working, you can actually turn back the clock a little bit by taking a free radical amount down, taking the toxins out of the body, making the body feel better in acids that are great, Guthy on in a setlist carnitine. These are all these all help to cleanse free radicals and glutathione is necessary in the liver, actually to take talks in the the body too. So if you can put it in, you'll more readily get rid of toxins, you talk by the body, but not really efficient in taking just the supplement of Glutathione in a cell system is actually a precursor to glutathione. You take that in a Paloma and it'll actually help deliver to produce the glutathione and detox the body more efficiently. Now, you're naming all of these, like when you say the sad for instance, and at first you said the ACES, those, you said you can probably just get those in a multi-vitamin, but Sam for instance, which I think is such a useful... They did a study with rats, rat generally live around a year and a half, a year to a year and a half, they gave high doses of resveratrol, which comes from great grape seed extract, high dose is a restaurant, and the rats actually lived 50% longer than they're normal and they were healthy, so on all their tests and their cognitive tests, and even there, they were still eating, they were living 50% longer than what they did, so the idea is that if we humans can keep putting in enough antioxidants to keep that bad toxic calls and eradicate damage down, and it's possibly that we can increase our lifespan, so maybe if we had... Maybe we can't let 50% longer. I don't know if I wanna be a 150, but I definitely wanna make a 20100.So I have many oxidants putting us the simple anti-oxidants and my body can get me there, I'm game. You know what, something we've talked about in the past, that it just really quite popular, but can you talk a little bit about the co-taco enzyme, Q-Tim? What about that?
Sell energy. Yeah, coenzyme Putin, it's a necessary nutrient, and everyone has it in their bodies and generally you make enough until you're like 40, 45 years old, and at that point you start declining unless you have some degenerative disease, then obviously your numbers will fall before that, but by the time you're 40. I think everyone should take coenzyme Q10 at least 100 milligrams a day.
There are two forms that you can get it in, you can get in on the Ubiquiti, which is the reduced form, and then the fat value or called ubiquitin, Ubiquiti, you can take actually less milligrams and get more use out of it, but it's much more expensive, but starting at 100 milligrams, that's usually a good amount to take, and that helped give you call energy, and it works at a mitochondrial level.
So when we talked about earlier, the calls to cellular partials damage the mitochondria, and if we can keep that functioning properly and get enough energy so that are pumping and working efficiently, then we can live longer and have a better outcome, but coenzyme Q10 actually mixes with other things really well.
So if you mix consume cutting with like El carnitine and de-repost, those three become a super power house of cell energy, so you take that in the body and you get really great energy, especially people that oftentimes, they have no reason for feeling lethargic all of their blood tests come back, okay, but they're still kind of tired and they don't quite know why, especially in elderly patients, my grandfather, I actually put him on coenzyme Q10 or my mom put him on coins I'm 10, 10 years ago, he went like literally in a week from death bed to walking around feeling 100% better.
And it was just that simple. He got that sell energy and then he was back up and walking around, and that makes all the difference.
So the benefits basically would be that the energy comes back and that your tenant comes back and you feel good and you have to take one before I sleep on accident, 6 o'clock at night and not thinking about it, I had a new bottle, I wanna try this out, so I take it, and that night I couldn't sleep for anything and I couldn't figure out why, and then done the next day, Oh, it was because you took the coins and 210, it just gave me way too much energy, and it's something that generally settle... If I take it in the morning, I don't notice it. Throughout the day, I don't maybe a little bit more pep in my step, but I don't really notice it, but that night, I definitely noticed it, so definitely something... It shows that your energy is... Your energy production is up there, it doesn't make you crazy, but gives you energy production, so all of these... Can we take all of these in the morning, like you say, a major source of power, but like someone... For instance, I get up at 2 o'clock in the morning. That's a great time for you to take it. Can I take all of them in the year... You could take it, and especially those last ones that I was speaking up, I consume, they'll count 'cause that's what you're looking for, is the energy, the other stuff, the antioxidant, anti-oxidants, you can take that throughout the day on, it's kind of better to get in and just like you eat throughout the day, take in your way options throughout the day, it's good to keep your serum levels up.
Definitely, we go in in kitchen. In my experience, I like to take it in the morning.
Okay, so let's talk about what you're mentioning the COQ and Q10, and then the CareKit Ocarina, and then the D-ribose.
And what are those? The Carnitine is amino acid that actually helps with not just sell energy, it helps the heart, efficient pumping of the heart, just like coenzyme Q10, it helps with the efficient pumping of the heart, and then the DI-BOS is a simple sugar, a polysaccharide that actually just helps with muscle energy, so especially if you're working out or trying to get bigger, pump up a bigger pump, the boat is a great thing to take, you just take as a little powder, put it in your water when you go to the gym, and it'll really help in that being able to work harder and longer.
Interesting. Oh, that's great. Good to know.
Okay, now let's turn this in a different direction and talk about plant-based diets and how they can also play a role in disease prevention... Plant-based diets.
Yeah, now it's thought that the plant-based diet, it can play a role in helping to prevent cardiovascular disease, cancer prevention, and really the reason for that is because the antioxidant levels of a plant-based diet are much higher than people that are just eating Me and potatoes. There's no color in the potato, it doesn't have a real Ira value, like I said earlier, the recommended daily amounts of veggies are five-day serving, some go high to 12 to 15, I doubt that many Americans actually get that amount... We have so many other things that are involved in our diets, so many sugars and things that are out there, but if you can kind of transfer your diet into a higher plant-based form, usually you'll get better results, you'll feel better, you'll have more energy, your balls will function more properly, it just makes your system function better.
A plant-based diet is definitely... And if you can't go all the way, obviously not everyone's going to... Not everybody wants to, but if you just increase those fruits and vegetables and make it when you eat your thing, I have a little bit of protein side of the deck of cards, and then 80% of your plate should be a salad, well, where does the protein come from in a plant-based day...
Well, protein, a plant-based diet comes from several sources, obviously, there's the soy, which sometimes is controversial because so can increase different hormones like estrogen in the body, and so some people say good, some people say bad, but that's definitely a sort of protein for plant-based diets. Depending on whether... How you wanna do your plant-based diet, you can add of things to that, you're gonna even add certain super foods to that diet, like if you don't think you're getting enough vegetables in your diet, super green powders that are out there... Spiritual is, those are all different. strain is actually a protein source, it's not highest protein source, obviously it's not like a stake or anything, but you're definitely getting protein in every source that you can get in a plant-based diet of protein is better, you don't have to go crazy with your protein, but definitely the idea that's the building block of muscles, and if you don't have enough protein, your muscles will waste, so it's a good... On my idea, to find the best sources that you can get findings, which are in all plant-based diets and even all vegetables that you eat, the nutrients inside, they coined that Pyotr ENTS, they're anti-oxidant rich and they can slow the rate of aging because they help to scavenge the free radicals, but they also help to quell inflammation, inflammation is a big player in how you age, stress plays a part of it, damage to the body plays a part of it, and if you can keep your inflammation levels down, which plant-based diets and diets that are high in antioxidants, keep the information that was down, like using curcumin from turmeric, those type of things, you can really keep yourself... Turn back the clock, make yourself feel a lot younger than you really are and look a lot younger than you really are, but you have to start early. Obviously, it's never too late, but it's better if you're in your 30s and 40s, think about what you're putting in your body, think about how you wanna feel when you're 80 and 90, and if you can keep your information down and the theoretical... So cut down to a minimum, you'll live a lot longer and be a lot more healthy if you have diets that are rich in high fats and sugars and processed foods, the simple, easy American diet, that's gonna lead to a lot of inflammation and the more information, the harder it is to get it out of the body. oxidative stress becomes constant, and then you just lead yourself down a path of degenerative diseases, cancer, Ms, fibromyalgia, all the different things that nobody wants to get, so the more plant-based and dark rich diet you can have, the better off you'll be.

If you've ever enjoyed the delicious food inside our kitchen, you may have tried this tasty dish, now you can make it yourself.
This recipe is for black being chilly with lime cream sauce. The preparation time is about 30 minutes and it makes six servings great for a cold day after being on the soccer field all day or maybe in front of a fire, you start with a pound of cooked black beans, one half cup, white anion diced, one half cup green Valerie, one half cup, red bell pepper died, one cup. Fresh diced tomatoes, two tablespoons, olive oil, one tablespoon human, three cloves of garlic peeled and mined one teaspoon chilly powder, one teaspoon paprika. One teaspoon oregano, one teaspoon Tabasco sauce, one bunch of fresh salon trained and two cups of tomato PRA can. There's also lime cream sauce, which contains one cup of low fat cream, the juice from one line and great exist from half of a lime first.
Plan your black Manes and place some on a pot filled three quarters of the way with water, and you cook them on the stove over a low fire for approximately one hour or until soft in the middle, and drain the water and set your black beans aside and in the pot, you're going to place the olive oil and add the garlic and spices until fragrant at all the vegetables and cook Five, 8 minutes or until tender, then add back in the black beans, the tomato puree and Tabasco, and you simmer all those ingredients together for about 25 minutes over a low flame for the lime cream sauce, you mix one cup of sour cream with the juice of one line and the great exist from half of the lime and you mix those together and place on top of the black being chilly and a bull allow all the ingredients to simmer over low fire for 25 minutes, served with two table spoons of the lime cream sauce on the top, and it goes great with Mexican style rice and a salad, this is black vein chilly with lime cream tone by mother's Marketing kitchen.
