We're very fortunate to be welcoming her to the mother's market radio show, Dr. cast, how are you?
I'm great, how are you?
I am fine, thank you. Before we get to today's topic, can you fill our audience in a little bit on your work and Anne's mission?
Well, I believe in doing the simplest, most natural thing first in a way looking under the hood like you would with a car, and rather than treating symptoms, really looking at what could be the underlying problem and treating that underlying problem and again is naturally and simply as possible.
Great, today we're talking about integrative medicine, how it relates to our hormonal health, so many different ways we can improve ourselves naturally, so let's get into it by talking about adrenal health, What can women do for boosting energy levels besides drinking more coffee?
One of the most common complaints I hear from my patients is, Why am I so tired Menashe way it is, yes. And I tell them to begin with, lo, we're living in a totally stressful world, there's nothing you can do to avoid the stress, it's how you deal with it, and you have to make your body stress-proof as much as possible, and Here's a few helpful hands, I can give you, first of all, eating appropriately, not drinking coffee, not eating sugar. That's quick energy. And it's gonna wear you out. It's not healthy. The real way to enhance your energy is to eat complex carbs protein, eat regularly, don't let yourself get starving and then you're gonna just grab whatever you want, whatever is handy, and it's not very healthy for you, so stay off the high carb stuff, eat the healthy stuff, it's going to sustain you. It's gonna help stress-proof view, another thing is exercise, we have to get exercise, even if it means taking the stairs at work instead of the elevator or going for a walk at lunch time, instead of sitting there the whole time and just eating... You should eat, but please go for a walk as well.
The other real big thing is to get enough sleep, so many people don't we figure, Okay, well, six hours is enough, five hours is even better because then I can have more time at the computer... No, not a good idea, because you end up being accident-prone, tired and much more susceptible to the ravages of stress, so please get at least eight hours a night, some people need nine or even 10 hours a night, and that's important because it sustains us, it recharges our batteries, it helps our adrenals to do what they need to do, and then there are also some supplements you can take that are specifically focused on the adrenal glands, something called... There's a whole class of herbs called adapted gems adaptions, now, we don't have them so much in Western medicine, but they do in the more traditional medicines, things like Ashland, Suma, Luther caucus rodeo, all of these help to support the adrenal glands, and there's a product that I really like that has all of those in it already together with some B-vitamins and some other what are called co-factors that help them to work better, and it's called a Drina sense by women sense, and you just take two or four capsules a day of this and it really helps to recharge your energy, recharge your adrenals in a healthy way, so you're actually building up adrenal reserves and you are stress-proofing yourself, so you take that first thing in the morning and then you take it maybe a time or some... Exactly.
Okay, so that's your cup of coffee, in other words... Exactly, and my patients are really amazed to see how much better they are doing and how things tend to roll off their back, they have more energy and they just feel all together better, and it kind of brings up the focus level to... Yes.
Okay, so I guess, how does lifestyle affect our energy levels?
Well, when we're running on full out, not getting enough sleep, eating the wrong foods, taking on everything, taking it all personally, it doesn't really take a toll, it takes a toll on our adrenal plans, and they are not happy, and that's when we need to recharge, as I said with all those other things that are important to do, we talked about those natural supplements as far as with that adrenal gland function, the benefits as well, and you mentioned the Suma, and I'm gonna have to see how you pronounce it as you would think of that tattooed Ashland, which is an diabetic Herb, Suma and Luther throw coca-sentosa for the whole word and extra Paget, extra points for that. You get extra points, anyone, they are really wonderful at restoring that energy, they don't give you a hit, a real sharp kick, like you would say from caffeine, right. Instead, what they do is give you more sustained energy, so if you take them, you're gonna feel good and they're not gonna let you down, and the more you take it, the longer you take adapt to gens such as the Adena sense formula, the better you're going to feel over time, and the better you are at dealing with stress and the more energy you're gonna have to deal with the things that come at you all day.
Okay, and that was... We were talking about the adrenal gland functions. What about your thyroid? How is that different with your... Then your adrenal gland, I'm so glad you asked.
Because of porthole really gets neglected, it's a butterfly-shaped gland in the neck, in front of the neck, and very often it's under-diagnosed by physicians. I can't tell you how many women come into my office with under-diagnosed low thyroid, and they've been told by the Dr, well, maybe it's borderline, or what will just watch... But these women are, if they're depressed, they're overweight, tend to be constipated, dry here, they may have problems with infertility, they even have problems with miscarriages, one of the big questions I asked Is your socks to bed and if you eat... Answer yes, if they have cold feet on fee, if you can answer yes to that, very likely you are low thyroid, really... And it's hard to get a doctor to really pay attention to this, and what's good is that there are natural solutions... One of the products that I really like a lot, contains some of the ingredients and help make thyroid hormone, you need tyrosine Aydin, and things like Google lipid B vitamins, that actually helped to convert the act of T4, which is the hormone the thyroid begs T4 is turned into the active form of T3, so you need to libido that and you need selenium, zinc and some other minerals, and when you have all these minerals together with the iodine and the Tyro scene, you actually can make your own thyroid home on and if your thyroid insufficiency you, Lothar is due to a deficiency in these and very often that's all that is wrong. Then you take the rents, and I've had women after a month of the percent saying, I don't wasabi anymore, how would... If you think you have a thyroid problem, is it easy to go get tested or What is that... What does that process... In my book, eight weeks to five in health, I explained that there are a number of tests to take free T3, free T4 and TSH, and most doctors will only test the TSH unfortunately, but there is a home test you can do...
I really like this, it's called The Brod barns temperature test developed by Dr. Brabant, who was a pioneer in the study of thyroid, and you take your temperature first thing in the morning before you even get out of bed, you do it for several mornings in a row, again, before you get out of bed, and if your temperature is below, 97 it is very likely that you are low thyroid, and in that case, take this, and by the way, even if you're on thyroid medication already, you still can take it, it actually helps your thyroid hormone to work better, it helps your medication work better, but you should tell your doctor, because if you're on it, the thyroid hormone and you're taking there and it's working better, you may need to lower your dose.

And now back to our interview with Dr. Hila cast, we're discussing ways to improve our health naturally, and right now we're talking about estrogen. Is there a good estrogen or bad estrogen?
Yes, God, another is a good and bad estrogen, some of it we make in our body, it just depends on how our own body is metabolizing it, and some of it comes from the outside in the form of what's called Zeno estrogens, and that's spent with an X-xenon, meaning foreign. So it's Foreign estrogens, estrogens that our ancestors never encountered, these are toxins, they're made from plastics, valets in fabric softeners, dry cleaning, hair dyes, black hair dyes, so all of these toxins are actually affecting our estrogen levels and they're affecting males as well as females, you know you've heard, I would imagine that they have found tadpoles and turtles and a lot of water life that have had fertility problems and ambiguous sexual organs, and it just things a lot of weird weird stuff, and that has to do with the estrogen or the Zeno estrogens in the water, these are the bad guys. The bad estrogens. And we have them in our system. And that can be pretty scary. We also have a lot of bad chemicals in our system that we should not have, is the environmental taxes, the environmental toxins are really a very, very serious problem, they totally disrupt the endocrine system, the immune system, that can cause cancer because they can cause... Prolific what's called proliferation, which means un-stopped growth, which is what cancer is, it can also cause a shift, these Zeno estrogens can actually cause a shift from the good estrogen in women, 'cause we wanna have our estrogen to the bad estrogen, and it affects males as well so little boys who have been exposed to these can actually have a deficiency of testosterone and all of that that goes with that, and little girls can have too much estrogen stimulation and they can have premature puberty.
So we're seeing a lot of these things that we didn't see in the old days, in the past 50 years, this is really rapidly accelerated, and as I said earlier, it's pretty scary, you know what I wanna ask you a question right now about that because I've heard... With little girls starting their periods. Now, I've heard that they start them earlier... Yes, as maybe a result of this, what's the average age now that they're starting... That are you finding...
I don't know if the average just probably do know that it's a lot earlier than it used to be, and it has to do with a lot of estrogenic stimulation that shouldn't be there.
So when you talk about the SEO estrogens, what can we do to prevent this?
Well, one thing you can do is eat a lot of the... What's called the cruisers vegetables, broccoli cauliflower, brussel sprouts, and they actually helped to detoxify, they helped deliver to detoxify the bad estrogen and turn them into water-soluble products that are just eliminated from the body naturally.
So that's a good thing, except you'd probably have to eat like five pounds of bronchitis much as you're like broccoli, I don't think you'd want at that much, what you can also do is take certain herbal remedies that have extracts of broccoli, like soul for fame in duty carbon calcium DeLuca, die in methane, and I'm gonna ask you to spell it.
Yeah, it sounds like you're going in a language over here, you take me, but it sounds good to say to a estate, these are very, very good products there, as I said, they are the chemical composites of the self-orphaned vegetables, and they actually help to detoxify the bad estrogen, and you combine that with other anti-oxidants, very powerful antioxidants that have been well-researched like turmeric, Lapin, green tea, milk thistle, these are all things that support the liver and detoxifying the bad estrogens, and the good news is you can actually get it in pill form, so even though there is an appeal for absolutely everything in the way that it is a pill for this, it's called extra sins, and that's a little deceptive, you're thinking It's Strasse was at estrogen. No, extras means it makes sense of the estrogen that you're taking, it turns the bad stuff into good stuff, gets rid of the bad stuff, it's called strains and it's made by women's sense, and I've had women take it first all just for general protection, but then if women are particularly having problems, say heavy periods, polycystic ovary disease, fibrosis, tic breaths, or younger girls with hormonal acne, PMs, all of these things are due to what's called estrogen dominance, that is... Even if it's the good estrogen, there's too much of it relative to progesterone, so we're getting into another category here about the estrogen progesterone balance.
So even for those women, Extras is really very, very, very useful. I also give it to my male patients because men are exposed to all this Zeno-estrogen and it's wreaking havoc on their hormones as well, because men are supposed to have more testosterone and estrogen, and this is making them more estrogenic, so I have my male patients on extras as well.
So it is safe for males, and then at what age point would you start putting kids... Or at what point can you start?
Well, then, if you'll notice as men age, they start to develop pop Ellis, which we call you beer bellies, and that's because they're producing too much estrogen, so they have to get rid of that estrogen, and one of the really good ways to get rid of it is the extractors on top of that, of course, there's all the toxicity in the environment that they're exposed to just as we are, right.
So they're not immune to that, just because they don't make as much estrogen as we do, they're still not immune to the Zeno estrogens, so a really good idea for everybody to be taking this sort of product that's a sense.
Very interesting information.
What ages do women start... Menopause menus is a very personal... I... Let me start that one again.
Menopause can start really any time after the mid-30s and generally run some families, you can find out what your mother experienced, what your sister is experienced, and you'll likely have around the same calendar, the same schedule. But first, this perimenopausal, what women may notice is they have a shorter time between periods or a longer time between periods, they start to have PMS for the first time ever, women who have never... It... And they said, Oh, what happened?
I know, I know. Now, I know why women complain about PMs, of course, the husbands notice it to the kids and everyone notices, so that's perimenopausal, and that can go on for a while a year or two, and then you shift into the hot flashes and night sweats and difficulty sleeping and feeling cranky and basically like having PMs all the time.
Okay, so I'm gonna stop you right there and ask you because I've not experienced it yet, but it seems like... Does that ever go away? Would you start getting them? 'cause my friends that have experienced the hot flashes and the night that it seems like once you get them... It never ever goes away. Well, hopefully it does. We had a real problem with when the Women's Health Initiative Study came out and a lot of women went off of the hormones, and I think that was right, they were on the preproduction, which is synthetic hormones, and that was a good idea, but they were really suffering and so what I did for them was really put them on verbal products, which helped tremendously, so even if you have these symptoms, we have herbal remedies that can really help black Houston qui gamma, Arizona has Barden. And actually, we have a product called Menno sense by women's sense that contains all of these, again, it's just one formula, you take two pills in the morning, two pills at bedtime, and you have your protection against all of these really awful symptoms. And the question is, do they last forever? It may seem that way, but it's not really... Very often, you will go through that phase and come out the other side, not having those serious symptoms, however, you still have to make sure you're supplementing, you also wanna be sure you're taking things for bone health, taking a multi-vitamin, so even if you are taking medicines you should be taking a multivitamin as well and clean up your diet for everything from PMS right through menopause, very important to eat a clean diet, if you're eating sugar alcohol, a lot of caffeine, all of that is going to make your menopause and your PMs a lot worse.
So it's just true, if you have a clean diet exercise, drink a lot of water, and then for women within menopause to take menacing really makes a difference. And I also have, by the way, I have all my menopause ladies on strains as well, they go well together, and if they are tired, menopausal ladies, I also add in adenosine, so you really can combine all of these together, and if there's a thyroid issue, again, you add in tyrosine. And there's no problem because I'm asking this a lot. Can you add these all together, is it gonna be... Are you gonna OD and no, they're made to actually work together very nicely, and it's kind of like eating food, you're not gonna just have a meal of carrots, you're gonna have a variety of foods because they each provide something different, not only for our taste, but for our chemistry, and it's the same thing with herbal remedies, so I feel really comfortable recommending these together with a good multivitamin, how long before women see the results... It can happen fairly quickly.
I've had women with menopausal symptoms within a couple of weeks, the arena sense works even more quickly because the adaptations were quickly and basically, it depends on the individual, it also depends on if you're also eating well, drinking water, exercising, all everything helps.
So these herbs will work much better if you're also cleaning up your lifestyle... Right. Taking away a lot but my bed.
And also, there's so much that we didn't cover, you're asking great questions, and I know your audience is really curious, and in eight weeks to Vibrant Health, I really cover all of this in a lot more detail.
Absolutely, so I would recommend highly getting the book and reading through the fine print here, making sure... And we're gonna point out your website as well, we appreciate this. Your website is AMD dot com, S-
