On today's show, we're gonna help you keep up with one of the most popular New Year's resolutions, dieting and weight loss will tell you what's going on around town and give you a chance to win a 100 Gift Card, but first step, we're extremely pleased to welcome back one of the foremost authorities when it comes to the health of your body, Lee, Aaron canale, MD has been practicing medicine for almost 25 years, she is the founder and medical director of the Center for New Medicine located in Irvine, California, and is the Medical Advisor for perfectly healthy products, and we also welcome certified clinical nutritionist, Liliana patina.
In addition to being the onsite nutritionist with Dr. Canale, she has also dedicated her life to the health and fitness, including training aerobic instructors and teaching nutrition across the world, to winning a state championship herself on the 400-meter dash. We're so very excited to be able to have you both right here to discuss the latest developments when it comes to losing weight, and we look on both of you to the mother's market radio show.

Nice to see both of you. Well, for those of you in the audience that may not be familiar with your mission and your work, why don't you fill our audience in a little bit before we get to today's topic.
Well, the mission at the center for new medicine is to educate and empower people all over the world, their families, themselves as an individual, because so many people are lacking the knowledge out there to live a life full of energy, feeling great, high energy and good spirits with the life span that they were intended to live naturally, and I love that, and I can't wait to get started with you as well, Dr. Lillian about everything that you're all about as well, and losing weight, that's all you have to say and all everybody's ears are gonna perk up.
That's for sure. Well, today we are talking about weight loss, and we know from previous discussions that blood sugar, exercise and what and when and how to eat and when to sleep, all that affect our bottom line, if you will.
So that's what makes this topic important, so pretty much to all of us, let's begin by talking about why we're seeing so much more obesity today and why some of the solutions is that what work and would keep the weight off.
I've heard a little bit about this HCG program. But let's get started with some questions. What is the HCG diet?
Well, we'll go to the CG diet yet, we'll get into the C-CG Principal first for our listeners out there, 'cause people don't even know what HCG, it's an acronym for what... What is it all about? Well, it stands for Human Korean gonadotropin, and that is the hormone of pregnancy, so when women are pregnant, they produce HCG and that's a laptop that you check on blood and or your ad to see if a woman is pregnant. It's called human, Korean gonadotropin, and a pregnant mother is the only woman who produces it, so we wouldn't have it available if there weren't a lot of pregnant women, but the human cornea gonna odor trip and it really was discovered of the plan of Using HCG for weight loss was discovered by an Italian guy by the name of Dr. Simeon.
So the HCG, they discovered this because there is a condition called frolic syndrome, and the kids that have this syndrome, they're overly, they're obese, and they have... Their genitals are not properly developed, so I don't know how someone got this Great brainy idea to give these kids pregnant women's urine and they gave it to them, and the kids all slim down, the kids also lined down, stimulated the development of their sexual development and had no negative FX on everything else.
So you're like, It's amazing, but it works, and I tell patients, it's not just the weight loss, the winless, it's just the phone as the prize at the end, but what does it do and detoxify you it Target that bad fat, the bad fat is what stores all the toxins. It's anti-aging. These people look great. They look 10 and 15 years younger. You're repairing your DNA. So it is absolutely... Really, if you wanna go on an anti-aging remedy in regimen, even if you have five pounds to lose, there's nothing wrong with doing this hCG die, but most of our patients really... They're really 20 plus pounds overweight. And the program, I'm gonna let Liliana talk a little bit about the duration and what you eat and all that kind of stuff, because that's where she's an expert in the duration of the ACG is either a three-week period or a six-week period.
Now, during the three weeks as well as a six-week, it's very basic, I tell patients they're either on it or they're not... It's very simple, there's really not much choices...
Dr. Simeon has really, I said experimented every was when patients ask me, Could I change... For example, Turkey for chicken, it's equal or as calories, I say Absolutely not, this has been tested forward and back, sideways and backwards, so it's really simple. So if you really follow the plan, you stay on the diet, you will absolutely get your results. That's the beautiful thing about it.
Now, one of the things as a nutritionist is I do a lot of coaching with them, so each week I see them, and then of course, I tell patients, it's not just the foods that you eat that make you overweight, it's the amount of stress that you have in your lifestyle, it is the lack of exercise that you do, and then of course, obviously it's emotional eating, so a lot of my job is gonna be coaching as well, so I will review their diet each week when they come to me, I will do body fat testing each week when they come. So it's really my job to make sure that the patient is actually losing body fat and not muscle or any water, so as we go along through the three weeks or the six weeks, depending on how much weight that they have to lose, that is really... I would say the cut of the whole thing is that they're able to maintain their muscle mass throughout the entire course, so that when they go on to their maintenance of eating, they don't get their weight back, so it's really a very, very exciting weight loss program.
You talked a little bit about losing muscle on the diet, but... Yeah, but your target is obviously the body fat, what is expected weight loss versus the three weekend, six week then... Well, for someone who needs 15 pounds or less, it's a three-week cycle for someone who needs to lose more, let's just say, Really, we don't allow patients to go over 35 pounds in the six-week cycle for severely obese people, 40 pounds at the most, so we'd say an average three weeks, we see anywhere between 12 and 17 pound loss, we see an average six weeks anywhere from around 20 to 35 pounds.
Okay, so it's average is really for people in simplistic terms, a half a pound to a pound today, a they do lose the weight, woogie.
Then yes, it's a very... And that's the beauty of it, 'cause a lot of people, I don't know if I can do this, you can do anything for 21 days on a thin, you gotta think about your ending goal in mind, and because if you were to go... Let's say, like I told you before, a conservative program, you're only gonna lose probably about a pound or two a week, and so you're probably gonna say, Well, God, I'm gonna be hungry and starving, and what am I gonna do, but actually the program works by mobilizing fat, your fat levels in your blood are floating around, so you have this sense of satiety, you are not hungry, and if sometimes patients are one 'cause sometimes it's a mindset, sometimes you may have to use an appetite to present, that's unusual, because really the actual physiology of this program is mobilizing fat. When you have mobilized that, you have that sense of bones, okay, that HCG is a supplement on top of the foods that you're eating along with us... Yeah, it's a supplement, it's not really a supplement, so to speak, because it's not something that's going... Like a vitamin or mineral. The HCG is the hormone, the one, and you can take it an injection form or homeopathically or Harrell, and they all are very effective. They're all very effective.
Okay, and then the foods that you were talking about, either the toivonen idea, to tell me a battered would be consistent.
It's very specific, for example, when they start their injections, they must do two days of Gorin, now, when they tell a patient to the Gorgon, it's really interesting 'cause some people, they're really excited and some people are really horrified because they're scared to death, they're gonna gain weight, but the whole goal actually is to take in as many calories as possible, and I tell beat calories too. And so it's really... I tell me he's not boarding to the sense you filled nauseous after eat, but really eat all day long. Breakfast, breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack. And then snack again.
So we really want a lot of calories that are circulating in the blood, so that on the third day when we go on to the 500 calorie, which is a very reduced caloric restriction that the body has automatic calories that it accesses right away, 'cause it takes approximately about three days for the hypothalamus to receive the message to burn fat as a source of fuel, now imagine you're taking... People who always ask me, God, aren't gonna be hungry? Am I gonna be weak? And I tell patients, Well, you're taking in 500 calories, but your body could be burning anywhere between 1000 to 2000 calories, breaking the fat down, so in reality, your body is getting all the calories that it needs to maintain itself metabolically, so you shouldn't be hungry if you gorge correctly, and I tell patients out, if you don't eat a lot of food, you're gonna be hungry on that third day and you're gonna be miserable, but the 500 calorie really consists of basically 100 grams of protein twice a day, not at the same meal, two vegetables twice a day, not at the same meal to fruits twice a day, about six hours apart from each other, as much water and herbal tea as they want, they can have coffee, of course, absolutely no sugars at all, no oils at all. Not even oils that you would consume in terms of your fish oil or your vitamin A-D-E-K, So it's very restrictive because we want the hypothalamus to receive the message that there's no other source of fats being consumed that they don't have... The patient is not consuming enough calories to survive, so they're using fat as that source of fuel, so... Yeah, you definitely have to follow the rules, it's all persons...
I tell patients, just make it really easy to go out and just gives me... Get your organic chicken breasts, you know the skin list and your grass, it be... Get your vegetables and you get your scale out and you do a little packets, you got your chicken and your B and your shrimp and fish, and make it simple, and if they're prepared, they do fantastic on it. Oh, well, we have a lot more to go to get to, so a very interesting information once again for both of you, but right now we're gonna take a quick break and when we return, we'll have more information about this diet, we will be right there.

Well, interestingly, exercise is actually not required, interestingly enough, because the body actually will break down fats without any exercises whatsoever, but we highly recommend some form of exercise, we like to say 30 minutes of walking, not too aggressive exercise because imagine that your body is working very hard to break down those fat calories, and then to add a 500-calorie workout and it depletes the body a little bit, and sometimes actually it upholds the way a little bit in terms of a body fat and starts to break down a little bit of muscle. So a very light workout, I like that have patients do lunges, squats, step-ups, things that really work their large muscle groups, they maintain their muscle mass that way a little bit better, this is harder to work back out after you've lost weight, like to get back into a workout regimen. Well, I would say a lot of patients who are based really find it much easier now 'cause they're not carrying around that massive amount of weight that really impacted their joints, so I would say that in terms of working out, they don't find it more difficult potentially, they might be a little bit weaker because they haven't exercised those muscles in terms of workload, but it's... Yeah, probably.
Okay, let's see, what about when you gain the weight back... This is a question I wanted to know is... Yeah. You gain that weight back when you go... When you go back to eating more calories, well, one thing that's unique about HCG, unlike caloric restrictive diets, is that you're holding... The HCG actually promotes holding on to the muscle mass where a caloric restriction, the first thing you're gonna target is you're gonna target the good fats, the body basically will hold on to its reserve because that's really famine energy and will actually break down muscle tissue.
But with the ACG, it's stimulating, the breaking down of what Dr. Kael called the bad fats, the fact that's around the stomach the way to the butter, so actually you do not... You'll lose a little bit of muscle because everybody, when they lose some weight, they're gonna lose all over, but then that's gonna be one of my jobs is to make... Each time they come to me each week to make sure that they aren't losing muscle and then to prescribe different exercises that will help to maintain it, but nope, they keep their muscle pretty well.
So typically, people are on this HCG diet for... What I've heard, I've heard different.
It depends on what your goal, attendant goal, but a three to six week goal and does... Maybe I didn't your question fully, they do not gain their weight back, if in fact they follow the maintenance protocol, and it's really, really important that they do that, so after the three or six weeks, they go onto a maintenance protocol, which basically now that they're no longer have HCG to promote fat-burning for energy, we really need to increase their caloric intake to what their basal metabolic rate is. So for example, a woman potentially may be burning 1200 calories or a man do 2500 calories, well from 500 calories, they've gotta really increase their caloric intake anywhere between 12 to 15 to 2000 calories, so we bump them up quite severely in the beginning, and people do have a little harder time. Gino, my God, on 500 calories. How do I eat a thousand calories? Especially since they're not eating those structurally rates, basically what we're doing is we're allowing them to have their fax back into their diet, their oils or fish oils, salad dressing, avocados, nuts and seeds, and you relate the amount of protein that they'd like to eat, so that's really whether calories are gonna come from because they're not gonna be eating any starchy food, it's gonna pretty much be the same vegetables and fruits that they have just a little bit more variety, and then how long do they typically say it takes to start that habit... I guess that's kind of that habit forming, eating well, and then it doesn't take that long, and then boom, they're off to the good start there, right? How much does it cost? Well, for us, we think it's really priceless, if you have insurance, the insurance covers what we would consider most of the visits with the physician, but the actual age is 50 for the injections, and then depending on the homeopathy or the oral medication, it's a something about the same about 50.You see, you see the doctor once a week and you see the nutritionist once a week.
So if, for example, you're not losing the weight that we think you should be losing it, we will change things, monitor things, examine, everything that you're doing to maximize, obviously all these efforts. So that's why we have the patients see the doctor once a week and the nutritionist to really optimize this plan because it is a very precise plan and the patients need to follow it to a T. but I have to say, it's interesting, I just saw a patient that had been seen by Dr. Thermos, one of our other doctors in the clinic, and she is severely obese and it's interesting, I've been trying to get her to lose weight forever. She's probably 350 pounds. And so she saw Dr. thermos and was put on the program, did her shots daily, and now she's off the program, she's on the maintenance as Alanna described, and she said to me, I saw her this week and she says, Gosh, Dr. community, I am not hungry now, I used to crave foods, I couldn't stop myself or meeting... She said, Now, this is beautiful, I have total control. I never wanna eat the foods I'm really supposed to eat, so it has just been a miracle for me, a nice... Isn't it amazing?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Especially, you know, when someone that way, God, it's such a beautiful gift for them to have a whole new lease on life and see that there's a sette tunnel... Exactly, because she was just overwhelmed and so she'll take a break. And now it's the holiday. So people are looking at that, when can I go back? So she's the examining when she's gonna go back on it, so I kind of recommend kind of that patients do the 21 day, the 42 Day is a protracted period in the longer period of time, I think anybody can do three weeks, and I think that's what the but you have to get your head in the right place and say, Okay, this is what I'm gonna do, and I'm going for it. But I think as long as the patient understands the whole concept and what they're gonna do, I think they will adhere to what they're supposed to be doing, so that's the priceless part of it, yes.
What do you do when you reach your go-wait or when they've reached their goal way.
Well, it's interesting, 'cause let's say, for example, Dr. Kale had mentioned that this hCG protocol or weight loss is for everybody, even people who wanna lose five pounds, so for example, if the patient reaches their goal prior to their determined time, either the three weeks or the six weeks, then basically what we would do is we would increase their caloric intake, but they would stay on the shots for the determined three or six weeks.
Dr. Camille also had mentioned that this patient no longer had these desires, while one of our goal is to create a permanent lifestyle changes, and so we have a lot of support systems, we have a six-week course here that I teach on a weekly basis is a two-hour course that really supports them, really teaching them foods. I always tell a patient, You eat what likes you, and you can eat a lot of food, if it's digesting well then great, it's not gonna be stored into a thought sell, so the... Really, the class is in a six-week segment that teaches them all about foods that are going to be better for them in terms of potential allergens, in talks to him about exercise and the importance of exercise. One of the things that we have been doing is teaching this course for about six years, and it has been very successful, but the main component is that they must exercise and an unlike the HCG protocol exercise is not a requirement, but our phones are gonna be bringing I love that you said you eat what likes you. That's a great little slogan. And I think that's a good... Great. Yeah, do you have more on on...
I always tell patients, really take a moment to experience food after you eat, you observe... How do I feel If you feel bloody and gas are tired, well, obviously, your body is trying to tell you whatever you ate did not work, but if you have energy, you have mental acuity, a fire basically you can run your engine for three to four hours, then really, you've got a hormonal winner, so in my class, I really teach people to listen, how do I feel after I eat a meal? How do I feel after I exercise? How do I feel when I go to work? All of these components are essential for a person to really dial in to a lifestyle that works for them.Beautiful, I love that.
Again, you guys are gonna be, I think... And then it's interesting because we all want the perfect thing, that perfect diet, how are we're gonna get through this and the older we get, of course, and especially as women, but this is great for men and women. Wonderful. What else haven't we talked about? With this particular diet, one thing that I wanted to mention is how we're really looking to create sell-ready in terms of our body's potential to receive a certain, what I would consider a balanced chemistry.
Most of our patients that are coming to us have diabetic issues, have fatty liver, I mean all kinds of high blood pressure, you know, medical disorders, and what this does is it flips the switch to the metabolism, which is really exciting, so we're seeing our patients really from... A disease state in a six-week period when we check their labs again, they're no longer diabetics, they no longer have a fatty liver, the cholesterol levels have gone down. Their blood pressure has gone down. So when Dr. Keele was saying This is a rejuvenation and anti-aging, it's really, basically getting them to a state of metabolic balance because when your switch is turned off, there isn't any way for your body to break fat and utilize it for fuel, because you're left in response, I call it, it's intoxicated. It no longer receives the message, just like when you have insulin-resistant, your body no longer is receiving the message to utilize insulin and bring in those sugars into the cell wall, while at the same time, the same thing happens with the ability to burn fat, your Leptin receptor site is no longer receiving the message, so we flip those switches manually once they're flipped and the body basically goes into gear and we see metabolic balancing occurring.

If you've ever enjoyed the delicious food inside our kitchen, you may have tried this tasty dish, now you can make it yourself, this recipe is for non-dairy rice, putting, it's a mother's market in kitchen recipe, great for people who are not having dairy but still wanna enjoy that luscious race, putting one half pound organic brown rice cooked, one half cup organic currents, one half pound organic firm tofu 2 cups organic soy milk, one tablespoon or incest.
One tablespoon lemon zest.
One half teaspoon, not make one.
Half teaspoon cinnamon, one quarter cup, organic honey, two tablespoons egg replace two tablespoons. Island granulated tapioca.
First, you want a pre-heat your oven to 275 degrees and grace the bottom of an 8 X 8 baking pan, you place your cooked rice and current in the bottom of the pan, and you wanna firmly pat it down to make an even layer. Next, place your remaining ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth for the liquid mixture over the rice and current layer and lightly smooth to make it even bake for one hour and 20 minutes after cooking, place it in the refrigerator for one hour before cutting into squares enjoy non-dairy rice putting my mother's Marketing kitchen.
