The Importance of Quality Protein
Chicken, tofu, salmon, whey… What do they have in common? They’re all quality sources of protein!
Protein has an important function throughout the body. It’s mainly involved in muscle development and maintenance and is extremely important to the health and overall function of our bodies.
Here’s what you should consider when choosing a protein:
-
Is it animal or plant protein? The main difference between animal and plant sources of protein is their amino acid composition. For a protein to be complete, it must contain all the essential amino acids, these must be consumed from the diet. Animal protein sources are complete proteins whereas plant sources are incomplete sources of protein, which means they must be combined to make them complete. MRM has solved this problem with our clinically proven Veggie Elite Protein that combines plant protein sources that is comparable to the quality of whey protein.

How’s the nutrition? When it comes to choosing a protein, some are healthier than others. For example, a scoop of MRM Nutrition Egg White Protein Powder has 23g of protein and 0g of fat, whereas a 3.5oz serving of ribeye steak has 22g of protein and 22g of fat, 10g of which is saturated fat. Plant sources of protein typically have little to no fat, making them a great healthy alternative to animal protein, like our Veggie Elite with 24g of complete protein, 2-4g of fiber, and 3g of fat.
For the average adult, it is recommended to consume a minimum of 0.8 grams per kilogram of body weight. A good rule of thumb is to aim for about 20g of protein per meal. An economical and efficient way to meet the recommended protein needs is through protein supplements, like MRM Nutrition’s Veggie Elite, Whey, and Egg White protein. These three all contain over 18g of protein per serving and all contain additional beneficial ingredients, like probiotics and/or enzymes, to support gut health.
