Good Things Come In Renewable Materials
The first fully renewable milk carton in the U.S. is here! Because at Clover, it’s more than milk. It’s our environment.
Clover’s longstanding support of family nutrition, sustainable family farms, thriving communities, and renewable packaging has helped set the high standard for the dairy industry. It’s a responsibility Clover takes very seriously. And it not only impacts how the company produces dairy, it drives them to find innovations in packaging and to share their passion by educating the communities they love.
As part of Clover Sonoma’s continued focus on sustainable packaging, the northern California based family-owned company is proud to announce the launch of the first fully renewable plant-based milk carton in the United States. Mother’s is proud to partner with a brand focused on a sustainability.
Clover’s new renewable carton is made with FSC certified (Forest Stewardship Council) paperboard as well as green bioplastic liner. Traditional cartons use a fossil fuel based plastic liner for the inside and outside of the carton. This liner acts as a moisture barrier so that the cartons don’t disintegrate. With the bioplastic, Clover’s new 100% renewable cartons have less than 50% of the carbon footprint of a traditional carton.
In the past, Clover Sonoma made the conscious decision to reduce plastic waste by saying “no” to plastic caps on paper cartons. In doing so, the company prevented more than 227,000 pounds of plastic from entering landfills in 2019 alone. Additionally, Clover has taken this commitment a step further by partnering with the nonprofit 1% for the Planet. Clover is proud to donate 1% from every sale of DHA Omega-3+ milk to support nonprofits fighting plastic pollution.
Clover’s fully renewable organic half gallon cartons can be found on store shelves now! Plans to transition the company’s entire line of products continues with organic milk quarts in early 2021.
