HOW WELL ARE YOU ABSORBING YOUR CBD?

How well are you absorbing your CBD?

It’s easy to figure out how much CBD you’ll get in a packaged CBD product. You simply read the ingredients label, right? Actually, it’s not quite that simple. The label only tells you how much CBD is in the product—but it doesn’t answer the question: “how much CBD will my body absorb?”

It all comes down to your CBD’s bioavailability. Bioavailability measures how well a substance you take is able to enter your circulation and thus be absorbed into your tissues. It’s the amount that actually produces the effects you’re looking for. So, when you ingest something that’s highly bioavailable, you’re getting more of what you paid for, in essence: You’re absorbing more of it, or nearly all.

But many products made with CBD that you take by mouth—like capsules, softgels, gummies, oils or tinctures—are notorious for having low or unpredictable bioavailability. That’s because CBD is an oily substance. Oil and water don’t mix, so CBD oil isn’t readily absorbed by our bodies (which are, after all, mostly water).

Instead, the CBD has to travel through the digestive system and be processed by the liver first, before it finally reaches the bloodstream. Because of this process (called first-pass metabolism), it can take up to 90 minutes to begin feeling the full effects of the CBD—and worse, a lot of the active ingredient can get lost en route, either by digestion or by inactivation by liver enzymes.

The result: the CBD consumer (a.k.a., you) doesn’t get the full impact of the CBD they expected (and paid for). If you’ve tried CBD in the past and didn’t find it worked for you, low bioavailability might be one reason why.

Caliper CBD: The dissolvability difference

Caliper CBD dissolvable powder was created to get around this bioavailability challenge. It’s formulated with an emulsifier that makes it highly compatible with water, allowing it to be absorbed more directly into the bloodstream. In fact, a recent clinical study, conducted in healthy human subjects by Colorado State University researchers, found that Caliper CBD began absorbing within 10 minutes–significantly faster than CBD oil–and within 30 minutes, was absorbed 30 times more than CBD oil was.

Commitment to credible research like this makes Caliper the only clinically proven CBD–and its proven bioavailability makes it an outstanding value. (Why pay for CBD you’re not absorbing as well?) Choose flavorless Caliper CBD dissolvable powder, which dissolves cleanly into anything you’re eating or drinking, or naturally flavored Swiftsticks, which you can pour directly onto your tongue for easy relief on-the-go. Either way, you’ll be getting more of the high-quality CBD you expect–and deserve!
